Sing A New Song
There is something about good music that lightens the load and makes everything OK with the world.
I had the unique privilege when I was going thru chemotherapy to meet a fellow survivor that suggested a particular song and video that was uplifting and motivational. It strengthened my spirit and prepared my heart for the arduous task that I had to face and undergo. It was the Yolanda Adams song, “I’m Gonna Be Ready”.
I would listen to it over and over, especially before every chemo treatment. During the extended weeks of radiation, I would have it on my phone and listen to it with my ear pods as I worked out on the elliptical. I listened to it on my walks. When the medication almost incapacitated me due to the deep bone pain that it caused … the song soothed my soul.
“Sight beyond what I see,
You know what’s best for me
Prepare my mind, prepare my heart
For whatever comes, I’m gone’ be ready.
Strength to pass any test
I feel like I’m so blessed
With you in control, I can’t go wrong
‘Cause I always know
I’m gonna be ready.”
[Portion of lyrics- Yolanda Adams “I’m Gonna Be Ready”]
Remembering that God is in control … Being reminded that He knows what’s best for me, made the intolerable, tolerable.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
So, when you are going thru chemotherapy, radiation or just a tough time and need inspiration, then turn on a tune, that will lighten your load, lift your spirit and strengthen your resolve to move forward victoriously.
