His Joy is Your Strength
Who can experience joy at a time like this? A diagnosis of breast cancer. An uncertain tomorrow. Chemotherapy, radiation, hair loss, nausea and all the other side effects that go along with the process of treatment of breast cancer.
Habakkuk 3:19 says “The Lord is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds feet and will make me walk (not stand still in terror, but walk) and make spiritual progress upon my high places (of trouble, suffering and responsibility)!”
It is easy and only natural to focus on what you are walking through and experience all emotions that come with it. There were times as I was walking thru the process that I had serious pity parties, feeling sorry for myself. There are still times that I battle with negative emotions as I struggle with the side effects of taking femara (a 5-10 year course of an estrogen blocking medication) for breast cancer. Weight gain, joint pain, hot flashes…
But when I go into that place with Jesus, seeking Him with all my heart, His joy strengthens me. I thank Him for His Goodness, His Mercy and His Love! I thank Him for keeping me in His Keeping! There is no way I can be or remain down, depressed and sad, in the place of praise, worship and thanksgiving.
Jesus is closer than your next breath. He wants to enter into your circumstance with overwhelming love, joy, peace and comfort. He wants to be your Strength. Call to Him.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. Then you call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. Then you will seek Me, inquire for and require Me (as a vital necessity) and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Know that His Joy is your strength! He will fill you with His Joy as you look to Him in the midst of your process. It’s amazing how Jesus can lift your cares and burdens. Carry your sorrows.
John 16:24 says, “Up to this time you have not asked a single thing in My Name (as presenting all that I AM); but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy (gladness, delight) may be full and complete.”
Prayer for you- “Dear Heavenly Father, please meet my dear friend right where she is today at the point of her need. You know all that she is facing today and tomorrow. Thank you for filling her with Your joy as she lays her cares and burdens at Your feet. Strengthen her in a new and living way, that she has never experienced before. Thank you for lightening her load in Your Love! In Jesus Name.
Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
Let His Joy be your strength today and always!
Be strengthened! Be joyful!
